'Wave mountain'

gouache and acrylic on canvas

(40 x 50 cm)

This painting was created for the love of our beautiful oceans, being inspired by the logo's of famous surf brands reflecting waves and mountains, symbolizing  the love for both surf and snow sports, as well as inspired by Japanese artist Hokusai whit his 'Great Wave off Kanagawa'. Let's celebrate our oceans!

'Back to basics'

acrylic on canvas

(50 x 70 cm)

'Back to basics' is a reflection on the growing complexities of the modern world with its conflicts, increasing technology and jungle of processes. This work invites the viewer to reconnect with the essence of existence: to play in nature and to cherish the beauty of the uncomplicated.

'Surf'

acrylic on canvas

(60 x 80 cm)

For the maker of this work one of the best ways to reconnect with nature is to surf. In the act of riding a wave, you become part of something far greater than yourself. The ocean demands presence, patience, and respect - qualities that mirror the deeper aspects of self-awareness. When you catch a wave, leaving only the feeling of moving energy and the sound of the braking of the wave. It is in this moment of clarity that you find a connection with nature, but also with your truest self.

'Pleasant cold'

acrylic on canvas

(30 x 40 cm)

As a water and surf photographer, Chris Burkard's work pushes the boundaries of exploration, often diving into harsh, untamed environments. His ability to capture the raw power and serene beauty of the cold nature in the Aleutian Wilds - Alaska - has been a profound source of inspiration for this painting.

'Sundown'

acrylic on canvas

(60 x 80 cm).

From the boulevard in my hometown (Zandvoort), the view is as magical as the day transitions into night. The setting sun paints the sky with hues of orange and yellow, reflecting off the water in a shimmering dance of light. The surfers become silhouettes against the glowing horizon, craving the waves with effortless grace. Their movements seem almost meditative, a testament to the bond between human and the ocean.

'Klein maar clean'

acrylic on canvas

(30 x 40 cm)

This painting captures the friendly, small waves that appear on a calm, windless day. The soft curves and tranquil water reflect a moment of serenity and simplicity - a rare pause in the ever-moving rhythm of the sea. These are the moments when chaos of daily life fades away.

'Celebrating the oceans'

printed photo

(19,7 x 29,7 cm, excluding frame & passe-partout)

This scene, captured while doing a surf photography shoot, captures the sea in all its artistic glory: Every element - the vibrant colors, the dynamic movement, the natural harmony - evokes the essence of a painting, reminding the viewer that art and nature are often one and the same.

'Milkshake'

printed photo

(19,7 x 29,7 cm, excluding frame & passe-partout)

The frothy white foam swirls around the surfer, shimmering under the sunlight, as if nature itself has whipped up a creamy, festive milkshake.

'Wheel of fortune'

printed photo

(15 x 15 cm, excluding frame)

This photo captures a fairground attraction, viewed from the sea. It ain't Brighton, but it is located in the summers in Zandvoort (Amsterdam beach). Just as the sea is open and accessible to everyone, the wheel symbolizes the universal right to joy and shared experiences. It reminds us that moments of fun, wonder, and connection should be available to all.
